First in family mentor header

The First in the Family Peer-Mentor program supports students in their transition to university life. But we also focus on the leadership development of our upper-year peer mentors.

This page is for the 2011-2012 mentors. Here you will find resources as well as some important dates for the fall and winter terms. This page will be updated throughout the summer and academic year, so please keep checking for updates.

Academic Fields Banner

As a mentor, you will be connected with a group of first- and second-year students that belong to one of 3 academic fields: Arts (social sciences and humanities), Sciences or Commerce.

If you are one of our mature mentors, you will be connected with a group of mature students from a variety of academic backgrounds.

What we expect of our mentors:

Our mentors are responsible for leading and supporting first- and second-year students through their transition to university. Mentors are also responsible for running academic skills development workshops throughout the year, where you will be working with one or more co-facilitators.
