Despite huge advances in women’s leadership roles over the last several decades, the United States still ranks 90th in the world for women in national legislatures, women make up only 3% of the top leadership roles in media and yet account for more than 65% of disordered eating sufferers.

Miss Representation argues that in a society where media is the most persuasive shaper of cultural norms, the collective message is that women’s value and power lies in her youth, beauty and sexuality rather than her capacity as a leader. Get a new perspective on an old problem on Thursday, March 8 at 5:00 pm in the Hart House Library. A Conscious Activism Doc Series screening followed by discussion.
