Letter from the New U Conference Co-Chairs

Hello Student Representative!
On behalf of the planning committee for New U 2012 at the University of Toronto we want to welcome you to the 13th edition of New U! We are very excited to have so many outstanding student representatives coming out to the conference this year and we cannot wait to get the weekend underway.
As student representatives, we are challenged to inspire others and initiate change. The skills we develop are highly transferable into the workforce and provide us with the tools we require to drive change. We are the innovators of today and the leaders of tomorrow. We bridge the generational divide and provide new ideas to society’s most difficult problems.
Each year the Office of Student Life, along with various student representatives host a leadership conference for elected members of different student organizations. This conference is a unique opportunity to network, learn and have fun. We are thrilled to be a part of “New U 2012 Student Leadership Conference” and hope that you can join us at Chestnut Residence, St. George Campus from Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th.
As student representatives with much past experience, we can tell you that last year’s conference was an invaluable experience, and additions made to this year’s program will improve upon last year’s success. The conference program focuses on the idea of student representatives collaborating to influence change in their communities and beyond. The program will include a variety of workshops, discussions, and featured speakers and plenty of opportunities for student representatives to meet one another, network, and establish relationships for future cooperation.
The cost of this year’s conference is $50 per participant, which includes all meals, program materials, and one night's accommodation at the Chestnut Residence. If the registration fee presents a problem for your organization, please get in touch with us about alternative payment options.
