Health and Wellness introduces new certificate system

Student Life Programs & Services on the St. George campus launches an improved system of providing documentation for student health- and disability-related matters this week.

The new Student Life (St. George Campus) Student Health- or Disability-Related Certificate will be issued to students in support of a request for academic consideration.  The Certificate is now the only form of documentation provided by on-campus practitioners – physicians, counsellors, psychiatrists and disability advisors - at the following U of T St George campus services: Health Services, Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Accessibility Services.

The intent of this Certificate is to provide clear, explicit and credible information and will help alleviate any confusion about how to accommodate a student’s needs, while maintaining students’ privacy.

Faculty and staff should note that this new U of T Certificate is used by St. George on-campus practitioners only.  The new Certificate can be readily verified as it will be signed by the practitioner with position, service and phone number.

The University is retaining the Tracker for students displaying flu or flu-like symptoms.  Further, students who visit off-campus physicians will continue to the use the existing Student Medical Certificate, which is still available on-line through divisional websites.

The new system is being launched on a pilot basis and will be analyzed for use and effectiveness before being implemented on a permanent basis.
