Staff and faculty across the University of Toronto share a common interest in enhancing student learning both inside and outside of the classroom. Recognizing the importance of collaboration, communication, and the sharing of best practices - the Division of Student Life Programs and Services offers a number of initiatives designed to support student life staff and faculty across the University in their efforts to enhance the student experience.
Professional Development Opportunities
There are numerous training and development opportunities across the University for staff and faculty interested in student life. The
Organizational Development and Learning Centre,
Centre for Teaching Support and Innovation,
Student Life Professionals Network, and the
Division of Student Life Programs and Services all offer a variety of workshops and events throughout the year.
In addition to those opportunities offered at U of T - there are also numerous development opportunities offered by professional organizations across Canada and the U.S.
Student Life Professionals Network
The
Student Life Professionals (SLP) Group is a network of administrative staff dedicated to improving the student experience on all three campuses. The SLP group holds monthly meetings throughout the year, offers professional development opportunities on topics related to student life, and manages a listserv and portal community.
Leadership Educators
The Faculty of Applied Sciences and Engineering started a network of
leadership educators and enthusiasts that share best practices and reflect on both the work with students and their development as leaders. This network of educators from Engineering, OISE, Rotman, Physical Education, Medicine, SGS, UTSC and Student Life is expanding across the University.
