Staff Days of Service 2012

Monday, May 28th | 10:30am - 5:00pm

Registration is now open for the Staff Days of Service 2012.  This is an excellent personal and professional opportunity for you to engage in a short term service-learning project to learn how to employ this approach to community service programs. For a glimpse of previous years' Day of Service please see this video by David Kim.

This year we will be exploring the issue of Food Security through a pre-service training with Professor Lauren Baker and a half day volunteer shift at the Daily Bread Food Bank.

It’s also a great way to connect with fellow colleagues, to learn more about our local community, and to think critically and more broadly about our role in building community and in developing student’s sense of social responsibility and citizenship.

All participants will be asked to contribute a monetary or food donation along with their service.   If you are unable to join us but would like to support us, please consider dropping off a non-perishable food item at our “Staff Day of Service” food bins.  We will have them located at:

  • CCP/Multi Faith Centre in the Koffler House at 569 Spadina Ave
  • Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education lobby
  • Hart House (exact location to be updated soon, but check with The Hub)

About the Daily Bread Food bank:
Daily Bread is a volunteer-driven organization. Each year thousands of corporate and community volunteers help us sort food for distribution to our member agencies. Fighting hunger is a collaborative effort between Daily Bread Food Bank, volunteers, donors and community partners. Food donated from food drives, supermarkets, and other food industry companies needs to be sorted, checked and repackaged. Our groups play an indispensable role in getting this work done.

For more information and details visit their website: http://www.dailybread.ca/
