Waiting lists for S courses

Remember that since the last day to join a waiting list or be enrolled into a course from a waiting list is January 15 for S section code courses, you should log on to ROSI on January 16 and list your courses to see if you were enrolled in any through the waiting list process.

Activate your new UTmail+ account

Current students are now eligible to enroll for the new UTmail+ service that will be replacing UTORmail later this year. UTmail+ offers significantly more features including 10GB of email storage and Microsoft Office web apps. Upgrading to UTmail+ is fast and easy! Visit www.utoronto.ca/utmail to find out more.

Updates and weather closures

Remember that you can call 416-978-SNOW or check the U of T home page for information on inclement weather which may affect classes and university services. These are the only official sources about snow closures.

2012 Summer courses

The Summer session is a great time to pick up courses that you may have missed this Fall/Winter or courses that you may need or want to take before next September. The Faculty of Arts & Science has one of the largest summer programs in Canada, including some intensive courses in the first term. The tentative 2012 Summer timetable is now available, and the final version will be available in late March.

June graduation

Planning to graduate in June 2012? It's a good idea to re-check your degree and program requirements now. This will prevent any nasty surprises in future. Be sure to print off the current version of your academic record from ROSI rather than rely on memory or earlier versions so you know what will be assessed. If you have questions about your degree requirements, contact your College Registrar's Office; for program requirements, contact your Department or Program Sponsor.

Undergraduate Research Fund

The deadline for the next Undergraduate Research Fund competition is March 12. The purpose of the fund is to foster research experience at the undergraduate level by providing students with an opportunity to develop a research project of their own, for which there is no other available funding. The fund is open to all Arts & Science students in good academic standing - no minimum GPA is required.

Dean's Student Initiatives Fund

The application deadline for the winter competition of the Faculty of Arts & Science Dean's Student Initiatives Fund is February 1. This fund was established to provide financial support for undergraduate or graduate student initiatives that aspire to create dialogue and foster a greater sense of community.

Scholarships with March 15 deadlines

The Faculty of Arts & Science Student Awards Committee will begin accepting applications for a number of in-course scholarships in mid-January. The application deadline is March 15. Full details of criteria, value and application instructions are available on the Arts & Science website for current students.

Clearing fees arrears

Please note that fees are to be paid before the end of the session, ideally before service charges are assessed but not later than the end of the session. Students will not be allowed to register in subsequent sessions with significant fees arrears owing from a previous session; course enrolment will be blocked as will final registration. This applies to both the Summer session and the Fall/Winter session.

Leadership is working well with other people to make a positive difference...it is inclusive...and you can learn it at U of T! By participating in the Exploring Leadership workshops you'll discover why leadership is important and how to achieve what you want by getting involved in learning outside of the classroom.

From the UpbeaT blog UpbeaT

"First of all, are you okay?"

Back in September, I started off the school year on the wrong foot. Actually, to push the tired foot analogy a little further, I was dragging my feet, tripping over shoelaces and falling down. Probably in a puddle. Of mud. Read more about getting to know one another from our blogger, Erin.
