If you are experiencing difficulties that affect your learning and have a disability or believe that you may have a disability, you may want to register with Accessibility Services. To assist you with the registering with Accessibility Services, all of our registration packages now include a Steps to Register checklist.

I know I have a disability
Step 1: Select the registration package that best describes your category of disability.
Choose the registration package that best describes your disability or the difficulties that you are having with learning. If you have more than one disability, fill out each of the packages that apply to you. Fill out as much of the form as you can. Please note, while it is requested, you are not required to disclose your diagnosed disability (or disabilities). You can discuss your needs further when you meet with your Accessibility Advisor.
Step 2: Documentation
Attach any documentation you have that provides information about the functional impacts of your disability and accommodation needs. Each registration package includes the documentation requirements for the disability you have identified. Since documentation requirements vary by disability, it’s important to review this information. The Accessibility Advisor will review the documentation with you during your intake appointment and advise you about whether the documentation is sufficient, needs updating or whether additional information is needed. To protect your information, all University staff receiving information follow University policies and guidelines, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other legal requirements.
If you do not have documentation or are unsure about documentation needs you can call or visit our front desk or make an appointment to consult with a Accessibility Advisor.
Step 3: Submit the completed registration package
Submit your registration package. In order to receive academic accommodations for the April 2018 exam period, students must submit completed registration packages to Accessibility Services by March 1, 2018. You can submit the package by email, fax or mail or hand it into our front desk. The registration package must be submitted to Accessibility Services before your intake or consultation appointment can be booked.
Step 4: Make an intake appointment
The Front Desk staff will contact you to set a date and time for an intake appointment with an Accessibility Advisor. Scheduling can be done in person, over the phone, or by email.
I am struggling at university and don’t know why. Could I have a disability?

If you are having difficulty with your studies and want to explore whether you may have a disability that is affecting your ability to be successful at university, fill out the registration package that best describes the difficulties you experience with your learning. To protect your information, all University staff receiving information follow University policies and guidelines, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other legal requirements.
Step 2: Submit the completed registration package
Submit the registration package. In order to receive academic accommodations for the December 2017 exam period students must submit completed registration packages to Accessibility Services by November 6, 2017. You can submit the package by email, fax or mail or hand it into our front desk.
Step 3: Make a consultation appointment
Once you submit your registration package, the Front Desk staff will contact you to set a date and time for a consultation appointment with a Accessibility Advisor. This can be done in person, over the phone, or by email.
In the appointment, the advisor will review with you the difficulties you are experiencing and, if appropriate, suggest the next steps in getting assessed by a professional.

I am a UTM or UTSC student taking courses at St. George. How do I receive accommodations for courses at St. George Campus?
If you are registered with Accessibility Services at the Mississauga or Scarborough Campus, you will need to complete a Transfer of Accommodations Form with your Accessibility Advisor at your home campus. Your Accessibility Advisor will fax this form to our office.
To register for accommodations at the St. George campus contact our front desk. A meeting will be scheduled for you to meet with a Accessibility Advisor who will explain how accommodations are provided here. Procedures and deadlines to receive accommodations may be different from those at your home campus, so you should contact us before or as soon as you start attending courses here. At peak times (August to October and January) you may experience a short waiting period for your first appointment.
Registering as soon as you are accepted to the University or before classes begin is best, but you can register with Accessibility Services at any time during the year and during any year of your studies!
