residence.utoronto.ca replaces MyRes

On January 17, a new residence application portal went live. Residence.utoronto.ca, which will replace MyRes, is a streamlined site with personalized, dynamic content – all designed to help students apply to residence on any U of T campus in a convenient and user-friendly way.

This smarter, simplified application process features countdowns to upcoming deadlines, shows up-to-date application statuses and dramatically reduces the steps involved in applying to residence.

“Thanks to our close collaboration with all 13 residences and significant input from students, we’ve completely rebuilt the residence application process,” says Arlene Clement, Director, Housing & TCard Services. “The result is an enhanced student experience.”

The portal, which is the front end of the university's StarRez residence management system, will be more effective at managing expectations and allocating spaces, while streamlining the overall application process. For example, it eliminates the need for Arts & Science students to return to the site to rank residences after they receive an offer of admission.

“Students can head to the site and use their UTOR/JOINid to log in,” says Clement. “The portal gives clear instructions, is easy to navigate and has videos of key residence options.”

Pie charts will outline how many students in a particular program lived in each residence the previous year, so students have a sense of where they might be placed.

Eliminating the need to visit a second website and reducing the number of dates to keep track of, residence.utoronto.ca is the enhancement that students have been asking for. Those with a Residence Guarantee must log in and apply via the site by March 31 in order to maintain their guarantee.
