ASKme: Helping New Students Find Their Way

Starting at U of T comes with lots of questions. Where’s my class? How do I find my registrar’s office? Where can I get my TCard? And who can I ask when I’m not sure where to start?
That’s where ASKme comes in.
The ASKme program is returning to the St. George campus from August 24 to September 14 with pop-up information booths staffed by upper-year students and recent graduates. Dressed in their bright orange T-shirts, these ASKme ambassadors will be ready to answer questions, share tips and connect students with the programs, services and resources that can help them get started at U of T.

Beyond the booths: Wear an ASKme button
ASKme also has “ASKme Anything about U of T” buttons. The orange buttons are a visible invitation to new students: you can ask me.
Anyone on campus who wants to be helpful to new students can wear a button. Staff, faculty, Librarians and current students who want to participate can pick one up at an ASKme booth and wear it while they are on campus. Buttons are also available at Hart House, Gerstein Library and the Centre for International Experience.
Remember, you don’t need to have all the answers to make a difference. For a student navigating campus for the first time, a friendly person who is willing to stop and help can turn an uncertain moment into a much more positive experience.
Be part of the ASKme welcome: take a photo wearing the ASKme button and share it. Tag @UofTStudentLife on social media or upload your photo through the ASKme photo form. Photos may be featured on Student Life channels or The Bulletin throughout the ASKme program.

ASKme across U of T
Did you know? ASKme is now a tri-campus program. At UTSC, students will find ASKme booths and people wearing buttons, while at UTM, students can start at the Student Services Hub Hello Desk or visit a pop-up booth around campus. Dates vary by campus.
Whether you answer a question, point a student in the right direction or simply wear an ASKme button, you’re helping send a simple message: welcome to U of T — we’re here to help.
