The Global Career Seminar aims to introduce current business issues, and to provide students with an opportunity to analyze and find solutions for actual problems assigned to them by companies/organizations based in Canada. The seminar will organize students screened and selected from Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU), Mount Allison University, Queen’s University and the University of Toronto into groups. Students will then be given specific business problems, offered by company representatives, which they will be expected to analyze and propose solutions. During the fall semester pre-seminar internet sessions linking KGU and Canadian university students will be conducted for preparation, and on commencement of the seminar at University of Toronto, further lectures, discussion, and preparation for group presentations will take place. The final presentations will be made to the representatives of the companies that proposed the problems.
The Global Internship is a program that allows students to experience, for about one week, working at corporations which have an active international strategy. Two students from different cultural backgrounds work together in pairs, and learn the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding in order to attain a certain goal. In coursework leading up to the internship, students learn about the host country's economy and business trends, as well as characteristics of the industry and business they will be working for. After the internship, students will be expected to report and present on their findings.
