Orientation Coordinator training
Planning and running Orientation is a tough job – one that’s even tougher without the right tools. To prepare our Orientation Coordinators for their summer-long task, they participate in a retreat in early May; an equity, diversity and inclusivity workshop; and ongoing training and discussions held in conjunction with regular meetings.

Joint Orientation Leader Training (JOLT)
To give additional support to Orientation Coordinators, we provide tailored training to Orientation Leaders. JOLT is a four-hour training program focusing on the fundamental skills and knowledge required by an Orientation Leader to welcome and support new students to U of T.
Orientation is an exciting time, but it can also be overwhelming for our incoming students. In order to best assist these students as they join the U of T community, we need Orientation Leaders who understand equity and inclusivity, how to be an active bystander, and some of the issues faced by our new students as they begin their transition to university life. JOLT provides this information through a mix of interactive presentations and small group discussions.
This training is open to all Orientation Leaders on the St. George campus.
JOLT session dates for 2017 are as follows:
- Saturday, August 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursday, August 31, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursday, August 31, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday, September 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Friday, September 1, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Register for Joint Orientation Leader Training (JOLT) is now closed.
