Community Days is a weekly program starting on September 18 for U of T students to get involved in community organizations close to St. George campus.
All St. George campus students, including graduate and international students are welcome to join.
Current Community Partnership: Friendly Visiting with Seniors at Kensington Gardens and contributing food access by supporting the Regenesis Farmers Market on campus
Starting on September 18, we visit seniors at Kensington Gardens every other week and play board games, listen to music or make crafts. We will recruit 5 – 10 student volunteers to support the activities. Registration in open!
On opposite weeks, we support the St. George Farmers Market run by Regenesis. The goal of the Market is to increase access to affordable fresh food on campus, reduce food insecurity, and build a stronger community around sustainability and food justice.
Students who get involved contribute to these goals by helping run the market each week, coordinating produce orders, setting up and managing the market stalls, handling finances transparently, promoting the market to their peers, and engaging community members in conversations about food sustainability, equity, and local food systems. It’s also an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in non-profit operations, community organizing, food justice advocacy, logistical coordination, and outreach.

- Volunteers spend 2-3 hours participating in the Community Day activity.
- Each Community Day is preceded by a short online orientation.
- Each Community Day involves a short day-of reflection activity required every month.
- All Community Days are CCR (Co-Curricular Record) approved.
