Gain in-demand mental health skills
Strong mental health literacy skills are necessary in many fields including education, student services, medicine, rehab sciences, psychotherapy and social work. These skills are also important for jobs on campus such as residence dons, peer mentors and teaching assistants.
The Mental Health Foundations Certificate will help you develop this knowledge to support yourself and others. It will also provide you with in-demand skills that can be added to your resume, LinkedIn and graduate school applications.
When you complete the certificate, you will be able to:
- Navigate mental health services and wellness programing on campus
- Use the language of mental health skillfully
- Discuss and appreciate how social context impacts mental health
- Recognize student stressors and apply help-seeking strategies
- Implement research-informed self-care strategies
- Identify, assist and refer others to mental health services and supports
Certificate requirements
There are 6 modules and a capstone project required to complete the certificate. Each module is broken into smaller sections that include reading, watching videos and completing an assessment. We request that you complete the certificate in one semester or any 12-week window.
